'SHANIA'
Shetland Sheepdog
Aka: shy shy, shoo shoo
After training and competing with two of the family dogs, “Kelsey” and “Raven”, I decided I wanted to get my own sheltie. Shania is a female, bi-black sheltie.
She was extremely shy when I picked her up at seven months of age. It took a lot of work to get Shania to even come out of a crate for the first five months I had her…let alone try any sort of dog sports with her. After months and months and months of training, we
Started training and competing in agility, it was then that she started to build a bit of confidence.
Shania is now competing in the highest level of competition in two agility organizations.
She also has done training in herding, tracking, obedience, carting, and freestyle.
She is a perfect example of how you should always believe in your dog. I never would have experienced Shania, as she is today, if I would have gave up on her years ago when she showed no promise as a performance dog.
Shania’s Accomplishments:
-Winner of the 2003 All About Pets Canine Musical Freestyle Competition
-Winner of the 2003 Royal Winter Fair’s Musical Freestyle Competition
-The first and only sheltie to receive a “Draft Dog Title” from the Canadian Kennel Club
-Fourth Place TSN 2004 Canine/Equine Challenge
